The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 836025 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded-to-socket adapter designed to transition between a 2-1/2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection and a 2-1/2-inch female socket (slip) connection. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness and pressure rating compared to Schedule 40, making this fitting suitable for demanding plumbing and fluid-handling applications. The fitting is manufactured from PVC, providing corrosion resistance and compatibility with a wide range of water and chemical service environments. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter where threaded pipe must connect into a solvent-welded PVC system, or where a system transition point requires an MPT male entry into a socketed hub.
This adapter is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems, industrial process piping, irrigation infrastructure, and pool or spa plumbing where Schedule 80 PVC is specified. The 2-1/2-inch size is common in main distribution lines, pump discharge and suction piping, and larger-diameter branch connections. It fits within the Slip x MPT adapter category of Schedule 80 PVC fittings, making it a standard component for mixed-connection piping assemblies where threaded and solvent-welded segments meet.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2-1/2-inch nominal pipe size connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC or local plumbing authority requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into an existing line or removing any existing fitting. The female socket end requires a compatible PVC solvent cement and primer applied per manufacturer instructions; the MPT end should be wrapped with PTFE thread tape or pipe thread sealant before assembly. Do not over-torque threaded connections on PVC fittings, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excessive mechanical stress.
