The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 836007 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded adapter designed to transition between a 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) and a 3/4-inch female socket connection. Built from Schedule 80 PVC, it delivers greater wall thickness and pressure resistance compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it well suited for demanding plumbing applications. The 3/4-14 thread specification conforms to standard NPT dimensions, ensuring consistent thread engagement. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter wherever a threaded pipe segment needs to transition into a solvent-welded socket joint in a PVC piping system.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, chemical handling lines, and irrigation or pool plumbing where Schedule 80 PVC is specified for added pressure capacity or corrosion resistance. The slip-socket end accepts a standard 3/4-inch PVC pipe for solvent cement bonding, while the male-threaded end connects to a female-threaded fitting or port. It fits within the Schedule 80 PVC fittings product family and is typically installed inline wherever a threaded-to-socket transition is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 3/4-inch nominal pipe size with NPT threaded and solvent-socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system completely before beginning work. The female socket end requires proper PVC solvent cement and primer applied per manufacturer instructions for a code-compliant, leak-free joint. Do not apply excessive torque to the MPT end when threading into a female fitting, as overtightening can crack the PVC hub.
