The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 830211 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer coupling designed to connect two female-threaded pipe sections of different diameters. It transitions from a 1-1/2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) on one end to a 1-inch FPT on the other, allowing for controlled diameter reduction in pressurized or non-pressurized piping systems. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-pressure and higher-stress applications. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipe fitters working on industrial, commercial, and residential systems.
This reducer coupling is used in Schedule 80 PVC piping systems where a threaded connection is required and pipe size must step down from 1-1/2 inches to 1 inch. Common applications include chemical handling lines, irrigation systems, water treatment systems, and industrial process piping where PVC is specified. The FPT-by-FPT configuration requires male-threaded pipe or nipple ends on both sides of the fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using 1-1/2-inch and 1-inch pipe sizes.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipe fitter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before threading into this fitting; do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque. Work should conform to applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for PVC pressure fittings.
