The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 80119-2006 is a bronze reducing coupling designed to connect two female pipe thread (FPT) ports of different sizes within a piping system. It transitions from a 1-1/4 inch FPT connection on one end to a 3/8 inch FPT connection on the other, allowing a technician to reduce pipe diameter in a single fitting without additional adapters. Bronze construction provides corrosion resistance and durability suited to water, fuel gas, and compressed air service lines. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors install this fitting wherever a threaded pipe size reduction is required in a bronze or brass piping assembly.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping applications where a direct in-line size reduction between two internally threaded connections is needed. It is well suited for installations where iron or copper pipe transitions require a durable, corrosion-resistant fitting that meets standard NPT thread dimensions. The 1-1/4 inch to 3/8 inch reduction makes it practical for branch takeoffs, instrument connections, and service line reductions.
Designed as an OEM-style bronze reducing coupling for use in standard NPT-threaded piping systems requiring an in-line reduction from 1-1/4 inch to 3/8 inch female pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads being engaged, not to the female threads of this coupling. Avoid over-tightening, which can crack bronze fittings; hand-tighten and then use a pipe wrench for final engagement only.
