The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77554 is a copper reducing tee fitting designed for sweat (solder) connections in plumbing and HVAC piping systems. It joins three copper pipe runs of different diameters: a 2-inch main run, a 1-1/2-inch branch outlet, and a 3/4-inch outlet, all using standard C (sweat) connections. Rated to 500 psi and suitable for operating temperatures from 32 degrees F to 200 degrees F, this fitting handles domestic water distribution, hydronic heating, and general plumbing lines. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians use this fitting wherever a single copper main must branch into two smaller lines.
This reducing tee is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic systems where copper sweat piping requires a directional branch with a diameter reduction. Typical applications include main supply line branch-offs, recirculation loops, and mechanical room piping configurations. The three different connection sizes make it well suited for trunk-and-branch distribution layouts where flow is divided and reduced at the tee. All three ports accept standard copper tube sized to their respective nominal diameters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard copper sweat fitting compatible with copper tube plumbing systems using nominal 2-inch, 1-1/2-inch, and 3/4-inch pipe sizes per standard copper fitting dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and drain affected lines before cutting into existing piping. Clean and flux all mating surfaces thoroughly before soldering, and ensure proper heat application around the full circumference of each joint. Allow joints to cool fully before restoring system pressure.
