The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77544 is a copper sweat tee fitting used to create a three-way branch connection in copper piping systems. All three outlets use a solder-style cup (C) connection. Two outlets measure 2 inches and the third outlet measures 2-1/2 inches, making this a reducing tee suited for transitions between line sizes within the same run. This fitting is constructed from copper and weighs 2.3 pounds. It is installed by licensed plumbers in both residential and commercial water distribution, HVAC hydronic, and mechanical piping systems wherever a branch takeoff is required.
This tee is a standard choice for applications that require a reducing branch connection in copper sweat piping. The 2-inch by 2-inch by 2-1/2-inch configuration is commonly found in main water supply runs, hydronic heating loops, and commercial plumbing headers where a larger branch or run-out diameter is needed at the tee location. It is suitable for above-ground and in-wall rough-in work in typical plumbing installations.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use in standard copper piping systems requiring a 2 in x 2 in x 2-1/2 in reducing tee connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off water supply and depressurize and drain the line before cutting or soldering. Clean all pipe ends and fitting cups with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering. Allow the joint to cool completely before restoring pressure to the system.
