The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77521 is a reducing copper sweat tee designed for soldered copper piping systems. It connects two run ports at 1-1/2 inches and one branch port at 1-1/4 inches, all via sweat (C) connections. This fitting is manufactured from copper and is used to split or combine flow in plumbing and HVAC hydronic lines where a branch line steps down in diameter from the main run. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers. The fitting weighs 0.72 pounds and is suited for both residential and light commercial applications.
This tee fits into copper piping systems where a 1-1/4-inch branch must be teed off a 1-1/2-inch main line. Common applications include domestic water distribution, hydronic heating loops, and general plumbing rough-in work. It is used wherever a reducing branch takeoff is needed without adding an additional reducer fitting, keeping the system compact and minimizing joint count.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper sweat piping systems using 1-1/2-inch and 1-1/4-inch nominal tube sizes per standard copper fitting dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off water supply and depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into existing pipe. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before soldering to ensure full, void-free joints. Avoid overheating the fitting during soldering, as excessive heat can cause warping or flux burnout.
