The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77486 is a copper sweat reducing tee designed for use in water supply, hydronic heating, and general plumbing distribution systems. It features a 3/4 inch C x 3/4 inch C x 1/2 inch C configuration, allowing a branch takeoff from a 3/4 inch run down to a 1/2 inch leg. The fitting is rated to 500 psi and handles operating temperatures from 32 degrees F to 200 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, remodel, and retrofit work where a flow split or reduction is needed in a copper sweat system.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Typical applications include domestic cold and hot water distribution, radiant and baseboard hydronic systems, and in-wall or under-slab rough-in work where a 3/4 inch main line requires a 1/2 inch branch outlet. Its compact geometry fits standard joist and stud bays. The fitting is appropriate wherever a soldered sweat connection is specified for copper tube systems.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting compatible with standard copper tubing systems using C-type (solder cup) connections in residential and light commercial plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off and drain the water supply completely before cutting into an existing line. Clean and flux all mating surfaces before soldering, and use lead-free solder where potable water service is involved. Do not apply flame to the fitting after assembly has cooled and pressure has been restored.
