The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77390 is a copper flush bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection down to a 1/4-inch FPT connection. Flush bushings seat flush within a fitting socket, keeping the overall assembly compact without adding unnecessary length to the run. This fitting is manufactured in copper, making it well suited for potable water, HVAC refrigerant piping, and other systems where copper is the specified material. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this type of reducer bushing when adapting between two different threaded female port sizes within a piping system.
The 77390 is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where a compact threaded reduction is required. Its flush-style profile is preferred in tight spaces where a hex or face bushing would add unwanted projection. Typical installation scenarios include reducing branch takeoffs, instrument ports, and gauge connections in copper piping systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for copper threaded piping systems requiring a 1/2 inch FPT to 1/4 inch FPT reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus the manufacturer-recommended turns without over-torquing copper fittings. Inspect the connection for leaks after restoring system pressure.
