The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77388 is a copper flush bushing designed to reduce a female pipe thread (FPT) connection from 1/2 inch to 1/8 inch FPT. Flush bushings seat flush within a fitting or port, keeping the installation compact and eliminating protrusion. This fitting is used in copper sweat and threaded piping systems where a concentric thread reduction is needed without adding length to the assembly. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers. The copper construction provides corrosion resistance and reliable sealing in both water and refrigerant-adjacent applications.
The 77388 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration piping systems where a 1/2 inch FPT port must be reduced to accept a 1/8 inch FPT connection. Typical applications include gauge ports, sensor taps, drain connections, and low-pressure service fittings. Its flush design is especially useful in tight spaces where a hex bushing would interfere with adjacent components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation copper flush bushing for threaded piping systems requiring a 1/2 inch FPT to 1/8 inch FPT reduction.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads per local plumbing code requirements. Do not overtighten copper threaded fittings, as the material can deform under excessive torque.
