The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77363 is a copper reducing coupling designed to transition between two different pipe sizes in a sweat-connection plumbing system. The large end accepts a 2-inch fitting connection and the small end sweat-connects to 1-inch copper pipe. Rated to 400 psi and suitable for service temperatures from 32 degrees F to 200 degrees F, this fitting is built for standard domestic and commercial plumbing lines where a diameter reduction is needed in a copper sweat assembly. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where copper sweat piping transitions from a larger 2-inch main or branch line down to a 1-inch run. Common applications include water supply distribution systems, hot and cold domestic water lines, and hydronic heating loops where copper sweat fittings are the specified connection method. Its compact, standard-weight construction fits within standard rough-in and retrofit plumbing scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style copper sweat reducing coupling for residential and commercial plumbing systems using standard 2-inch to 1-inch copper sweat connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting, cleaning, or soldering any copper fitting. Use properly rated lead-free solder and flux for potable water applications. Allow the joint to cool fully before restoring water pressure.
