The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77292 is a copper sweat reducer coupling designed to connect two pipes of different diameters in plumbing and refrigeration systems. One end accepts a 3/8 inch fitting connection while the other end is a 1/8 inch sweat (solder) connection, allowing a technician to step down line size within a copper tubing run. The fitting is rated to 500 psi and handles operating temperatures from 32 degrees F to 200 degrees F. Plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting wherever a controlled diameter reduction is needed in a copper sweat system.
This reducer coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC applications where copper tubing must transition from a 3/8 inch line to a 1/8 inch line. It is a standard sweat-type fitting, meaning installation requires soldering. The compact size and low weight make it practical for tight spaces and retrofit work where an existing line must be reduced without replacing a long run of tubing.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat fitting for use in copper tubing systems requiring a 3/8 inch to 1/8 inch diameter reduction in plumbing, refrigeration, or HVAC applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Isolate and depressurize the system and purge any remaining fluid before cutting into an existing copper line. Clean and flux both the fitting and tubing surfaces thoroughly before applying heat to ensure a leak-free solder joint. Work should comply with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC standards.
