The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 77162 is a 45-degree solder joint elbow fitting manufactured from wrot copper. It is designed to change flow direction by 45 degrees in a copper sweat piping system, connecting two 1/4-inch copper tube ends using standard soldering methods. Rated to 500 psi and suitable for operating temperatures from 32 degrees F to 200 degrees F, this fitting handles the pressure and thermal demands typical of residential and light commercial plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC applications. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers. The compact dimensions and wrot copper construction provide reliable joint integrity when properly soldered.
This elbow is used in small-diameter copper sweat piping installations where a 45-degree direction change is required. Common applications include refrigeration line sets, plumbing supply lines, and HVAC condensate or water distribution systems using 1/4-inch copper tubing. Both connection ends accept standard sweat connections, making this fitting compatible with conventional tube and solder assembly practices in residential and light commercial work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 1/4-inch copper sweat piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician following applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B16.22 standards for wrought copper fittings. Shut off and relieve pressure from the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Clean and deburr tube ends, apply appropriate flux, and heat evenly before feeding solder to ensure a full, leak-free joint. Avoid overheating, which can burn flux and result in a poor bond.
