The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 746537 is a straight supply stop valve designed for residential and light commercial plumbing applications. It connects 1/2-inch PEX supply lines to 1/4-inch compression fittings, making it a common fixture shutoff in installations where PEX tubing runs to sinks, toilets, or appliances. The body is brass construction with a chrome-plated finish, a PTFE seat for reliable shutoff, and a brass oval handle that operates on a 1/4-turn mechanism. The valve is certified lead-free, meeting current potable water compliance requirements. Domestic manufacture and individual box packaging make it suitable for professional supply house purchasing and single-unit service calls alike.
This supply stop is used where a PEX supply line terminates at a fixture angle or straight shutoff point. Typical installations include under-sink hot and cold supply connections, toilet tank supply lines, and similar low-pressure fixture shutoff points in residential construction or remodel work. The straight body configuration suits applications where the supply line approaches the fixture from a direct angle rather than from the floor or wall at a perpendicular. The 1/4-turn oval handle allows fast, positive shutoff without multiple rotations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation supply stop for residential plumbing systems using 1/2-inch PEX supply tubing with a 1/4-inch compression outlet connection at the fixture.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the main water supply and relieve line pressure before removing any existing valve or making new connections. When connecting the PEX inlet, use the appropriate PEX crimp or clamp ring tool per the tubing manufacturer specification - do not overtighten compression fittings, as this can deform the ferrule and cause leaks. Inspect for leaks at both the PEX connection and the compression outlet after restoring pressure.
