The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 707002-0404 is a rigid hose barb adapter designed to connect 1/4-inch hose barb fittings to 1/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) ports. Constructed from lead-free brass, this adapter is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi and a temperature range of -40 to 160 degrees F. At 1.6 inches in length with a 0.62-inch hex flat, it is a compact, wrench-friendly fitting suitable for plumbing, HVAC, and general fluid transfer applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians regularly install this type of adapter where a flexible hose must transition to a threaded port.
This adapter is intended for use with a hose clamp, similar style clamp, or a crimped ferrule to secure the hose barb connection. It is applicable in residential and light commercial systems where a low-profile brass transition between barbed hose and FPT threaded ports is required. Typical installations include water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and other fluid-handling assemblies operating within the rated pressure and temperature limits of the fitting.
Designed for use with 1/4-inch ID hose secured by a hose clamp, similar type clamp, or a crimped ferrule, connecting to 1/4-inch FPT threaded ports in fluid transfer and plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified tradesperson in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before installing or removing any fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the FPT threads before threading the adapter into the port. Ensure the hose is fully seated over the barb before securing the clamp or ferrule.
