The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 706118-04 is a 90-degree long barstock street elbow machined from lead-free brass. It connects 1/4-inch Female NPTF to 1/4-inch Male NPTF, making it a compact directional fitting used to change flow direction in tight plumbing assemblies. The 1/4-18 thread specification ensures a pressure-rated, leak-resistant connection without requiring a separate coupling. Lead-free brass construction meets current federal and state potable water standards. At 0.105 pounds, the fitting is lightweight but solid. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial gas, water, or pneumatic piping systems.
This street elbow is suited for applications where a standard elbow and nipple combination would create too much bulk or length. Its long barstock body provides additional thread engagement and structural integrity at the joint. Typical use cases include instrument connections, pressure gauge installations, and branch line transitions in brass or steel pipe systems. The 90-degree angle redirects flow without the need for an additional fitting, reducing both labor and potential leak points in the assembly.
Designed for use with brass or steel pipe. Fits standard 1/4-18 NPTF threaded fittings and connections in residential and light commercial plumbing, gas, and pneumatic piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system before disassembly or fitting installation. NPTF dryseal threads are designed to seal on thread contact, but applying an appropriate thread sealant compound is standard practice for added leak protection. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excessive force.
