The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 700085-1008 is a 90-degree reducing compression elbow designed for connecting two different-diameter tubes at a right angle. The larger end accepts 5/8-inch compression and the smaller end accepts 1/2-inch compression, making it a practical solution when a line size reduction and a direction change are needed in a single fitting. Constructed from lead-free brass, this elbow meets current plumbing code requirements for potable water systems. It is rated for temperatures from -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F and uses a 13/16-18 thread form. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing is routed in tight spaces and must change direction while also transitioning between tube sizes. Typical applications include water supply lines, refrigeration lines, and other fluid-handling runs where a compact right-angle reducing connection is required. The compression-style ends eliminate the need for soldering or specialized tooling, speeding up installation in retrofit and new-construction scenarios alike.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing in compression-fitting plumbing and fluid systems. Fits 5/8-inch OD tubing on the larger port and 1/2-inch OD tubing on the smaller port.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable International Plumbing Code (IPC) or local equivalent. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before disassembling or installing any compression fitting. Ensure tubing ends are cut square and deburred before seating into the compression nut to achieve a leak-free connection. Do not overtighten compression nuts - snug plus a partial turn is the standard practice for compression fittings on soft tubing.
