The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 700084-040406 is a lead-free brass reducing compression tee designed for use in plumbing and fluid distribution systems. It connects two 1/4-inch compression ports to one 3/8-inch compression port, allowing a branch takeoff or line reduction without soldering or specialized tooling. The fitting is manufactured from lead-free brass and is rated for operating temperatures from -40 to 250 degrees F. A 7/16-24 thread spec supports proper nut engagement across all three ports. Plumbers and HVAC technicians reach for this type of fitting when splitting or reducing a line in tight-access locations where sweat connections are not practical.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing must be joined at a tee junction with a size reduction. Typical install scenarios include ice maker supply lines, refrigerant-grade tubing runs, potable water distribution, and low-pressure pneumatic or instrumentation lines. The compression design makes it adaptable across tubing materials without requiring solder, flux, or heat. Its compact footprint - 1.9 inches in length and 1.3 inches in width - allows use in confined spaces such as under-sink cabinet runs or equipment panels.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing in compression-fitting applications. Suitable as an OEM-style or field replacement tee fitting in plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation systems using standard compression connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in compliance with applicable local codes and IPC standards. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before disassembly or fitting installation. Hand-tighten compression nuts before applying a final wrench turn to avoid cross-threading or over-compression that can crack plastic tubing inserts. Do not use thread sealant tape on compression fittings - the seal is made at the ferrule, not the threads.
