The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 700082-1006 is a reducing compression union designed to join two different-diameter tubes in a single inline connection. It accepts a 5/8-inch compression fitting on one end and a 3/8-inch compression fitting on the other, allowing a technician to transition between tube sizes without soldering or threading. The body is manufactured from lead-free brass, meeting lead-free compliance requirements for potable water and plumbing applications. Rated for service between -40 degrees F and 250 degrees F, this fitting suits a wide range of temperatures encountered in residential and light commercial plumbing and refrigeration work.
This fitting is used wherever a piping run must change from one tube outside diameter to another using compression-style connections. Typical applications include domestic water supply lines, ice maker supply runs, HVAC condensate or refrigerant tubing transitions, and similar installations where copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing is used. The compression-on-both-ends design allows a plumber or HVAC technician to complete the connection with basic hand tools, no torch required.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing in compression-fitting installations. Compatible with standard 5/8-inch and 3/8-inch compression sleeves and nuts.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician. Shut off the water supply or isolate the refrigerant circuit before disassembling any existing connections. Cut tubing squarely and deburr the end before inserting into the compression fitting to ensure a leak-free seal. Overtightening compression nuts can deform the ferrule and cause leaks - follow standard compression fitting torque practices per applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines.
