The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 700066-1408 is a lead-free brass female coupling designed to transition between a 7/8-inch compression connection and a 1/2-inch female NPTF threaded port. It is used in fluid-carrying systems where a compression tube connection must terminate into a female pipe thread fitting. The coupling handles a temperature range of -40 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for both cold-water and hot-water service lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work on potable water, heating, and light-duty pneumatic lines.
This coupling is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing must connect to a female NPTF-threaded component such as a valve body, manifold, or equipment inlet. The 1-1/8-18 thread on the compression end mates with the 1/2-14 NPTF thread on the female side. Its lead-free brass construction meets potable water requirements where lead-free materials are mandated by code.
Compatible with copper, aluminum, or plastic tubing at the 7/8-inch compression end. Designed for use in lead-free plumbing systems requiring a compression-to-female NPTF transition fitting.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before disassembly or fitting installation. Do not overtighten the compression nut, as this can deform soft tubing and cause leaks. Apply thread sealant to the NPTF threads as required per job specifications.
