The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 691008 is a forged brass, 90-degree male elbow fitting designed for DOT-rated push-to-connect pneumatic and fluid system applications. It transitions from a 5/8-inch push-to-connect port to a 1/2-inch male NPTF threaded port in a compact right-angle body. The fitting is rated to 150 psi and handles temperatures from -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F, making it suitable for air brake lines, compressed air systems, and other DOT-compliant fluid handling circuits. Plumbers, fleet maintenance technicians, and industrial pipefitters install this fitting where a secure, tool-free push-to-connect entry point meets a threaded male NPTF exit.
This elbow is intended for use in DOT-approved air brake and pneumatic tubing systems on commercial vehicles, trailers, and stationary compressed air installations. The push-to-connect end accepts 5/8-inch OD tubing without additional ferrules or tools, while the 1/2-14 NPTF thread provides a dry-seal mechanical connection at the outlet. The 0.53-inch body size and overall envelope of approximately 1.48 inches center-to-end by 1.23 inches make it appropriate for tight routing situations where a standard 90-degree change of direction is needed.
Designed as a DOT-style push-to-connect brass elbow fitting for commercial vehicle air brake lines and compressed air systems using 5/8-inch OD tubing with 1/2-inch NPTF threaded ports.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with DOT air brake system regulations and applicable federal motor carrier safety standards. Depressurize and bleed all air from the system before removing or installing any fitting. Ensure tubing is cut cleanly and squarely and fully seated into the push-to-connect port before pressurizing. Apply thread sealant compatible with brass and NPTF dry-seal threads if required by the application; do not overtighten the NPTF connection.
