The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 6902NWO64 is a 45-degree swivel adapter elbow designed for hydraulic line connections in demanding fluid power applications. It converts a 3/8 inch Male O-Ring Boss (ORB) port to a 1/4 inch Female National Pipe Straight Mechanical (FNPSM) thread, with a 9/16-18 x 1/4-18 thread configuration. Constructed from steel, this fitting handles a maximum operating pressure of 3,600 psi and is rated for temperatures up to 375 degrees F. The swivel design allows the female end to rotate during assembly, reducing hose and line twist during installation. Hydraulic technicians and fluid power specialists are the primary installers.
This swivel elbow fits into hydraulic systems where a 45-degree directional change is required between an O-Ring Boss port and a pipe-threaded connection. Typical applications include hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and manifolds found in mobile and industrial hydraulic circuits. The adjustable ORB male end seats against a straight-thread port with an O-ring seal, providing a leak-resistant connection without relying on thread deformation. The FNPSM end accepts a standard pipe-threaded hose or tube fitting on the mating side.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation fitting for hydraulic systems using 3/8 inch Male O-Ring Boss ports and 1/4 inch Female National Pipe Straight Mechanical connections, consistent with the MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 6902-NWO Series of male adjustable O-ring to FNPSM swivel 45-degree elbows.
Installation should be performed by a qualified hydraulic technician. Depressurize and isolate the hydraulic circuit completely before removing or installing any fittings. Torque the Male ORB end to the port manufacturer's specification using the back-up wrench method to prevent over-rotation of the swivel body. Inspect the O-ring for damage before assembly and replace it if any cuts or deformation are present.
