The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 68A-8B is a brass compression adapter designed to transition between a 1/2-inch compression connection and a 1/4-inch male NPTF threaded port. Built from solid brass, this fitting delivers reliable, leak-resistant joints in plumbing, refrigeration, and fluid-handling systems. It carries a 200 psi pressure rating and performs across a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F. The 11/16-20 x 1/4-18 thread specification and 0.68-inch hex size make it straightforward to seat and torque with standard hand tools. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this type of adapter when connecting instrument lines, supply tubing, or control system piping to threaded ports.
This adapter is suited for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in residential and light commercial applications. Typical installations include refrigeration lines, pneumatic control tubing, compressed air distribution, and water supply connections where a compression-to-NPTF transition is required. The center-to-end dimension of 1.22 inches supports use in tight-clearance installations. Its compact profile fits standard valve bodies, manifolds, and equipment ports that accept a 1/4-inch male NPTF fitting.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing systems requiring a 1/2-inch compression to 1/4-inch male NPTF connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical technician. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any fitting. Compression fittings require a properly cut, deburred tube end and a correctly seated ferrule - do not overtighten, as this can deform the ferrule and cause leaks. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for pressure testing after installation.
