The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 68A-6D is a brass male adapter fitting that transitions a 3/8-inch compression connection to a 1/2-inch male NPTF threaded port. Designed for use in plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration applications, this fitting provides a reliable, pressure-rated mechanical connection between compression tubing and NPTF-threaded components. The 9/16-24 x 1/2-14 thread specification, 0.87-inch hex flat, and 1.34-inch center-to-end dimension allow for straightforward installation with standard hand tools. Rated to 200 psi and a temperature range of -65 to 250 degrees F, this fitting suits a broad range of service conditions encountered by plumbers and HVAC technicians.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial installations where copper, aluminum, or thermoplastic tubing must terminate at an NPTF-threaded valve, manifold, or equipment port. Common applications include water supply lines, refrigerant service connections, pneumatic lines, and instrument tubing runs. The compression end eliminates the need for soldering or flaring at the tubing connection, making it practical for field repairs and retrofit work where open-flame work is restricted or inconvenient.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing at the compression end, connecting to any 1/2-inch male NPTF-threaded port. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting in compression-to-NPTF adapter applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes and IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system before disassembly or fitting installation. Use a wrench on the hex flat to tighten the NPTF threads - do not over-tighten, as NPTF threads are self-sealing by design. Ensure the compression ferrule seats squarely on the tubing before tightening the compression nut.
