The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 68334 is a galvanized malleable iron reducing tee rated for 300 lb pressure service. It connects two 2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) ports on the run with a 1-1/4-inch FPT branch outlet, making it a standard choice for reducing branch connections in threaded piping systems. The extra-heavy (XH) schedule wall thickness and ANSI B16.3 dimensional compliance make this fitting suitable for demanding commercial and industrial installations. Thread form is 2-11-1/2 NPT on the run and 1-1/4-11-1/2 NPT on the branch. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting in gas, steam, air, and water distribution systems.
This reducing tee is designed for use in extra-heavy 300 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems. Typical applications include branch takeoffs in commercial gas distribution headers, compressed air mains, hydronic heating piping, and steam service lines. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suitable for dry or moderately wet service environments. Operating temperature range is -20 to 350 degrees F, covering the majority of HVAC, plumbing, and light industrial process piping scenarios where threaded malleable iron fittings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for extra-heavy 300 lb malleable iron piping systems using 2-inch NPT run pipe and 1-1/4-inch NPT branch pipe, conforming to ANSI B16.3 standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as relevant to the service. Depressurize and isolate the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excessive force.
