The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 680604A is a D.O.T.-compliant brass male connector designed for push-to-connect pneumatic and fluid line applications. It accepts a 3/8-inch push-to-connect tube on one end and threads into a 1/4-inch male NPTF port on the other, creating a secure, leak-resistant transition between tubing and a threaded fitting seat. The connector is rated to 150 psi and handles temperatures from -40 to 200 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of compressed air, air brake, and fluid transfer systems. Brass construction provides corrosion resistance and long service life in demanding transport and industrial environments.
This connector is used in D.O.T.-regulated air brake systems, compressed air lines, and pneumatic control circuits on commercial vehicles, trailers, and stationary equipment. The push-to-connect end allows for fast, tool-free tube insertion while the NPTF thread provides a dry-seal connection at the port end. Licensed mechanics, fleet maintenance technicians, and industrial pipefitters install this fitting wherever a reliable push-to-connect-to-threaded-port transition is required.
Designed as an OEM-style D.O.T. push-to-connect replacement fitting for 3/8-inch OD tubing systems terminating at a 1/4-18 NPTF threaded port in commercial vehicle air brake and pneumatic plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or pipefitter familiar with D.O.T. air brake system requirements. Depressurize and drain the air system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Ensure the NPTF threads are clean and free of damage before hand-tightening and wrenching to a snug seat - NPTF threads are designed to seal on thread interference without additional sealant, but confirm your application requirements. Verify tube cut is square and clean before inserting into the push-to-connect end to ensure proper collet engagement.
