The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 68-64 is a light pattern compression-to-male pipe thread adapter machined from brass. It connects 3/8-inch compression tubing on one end to a 1/4-inch male NPT fitting on the other, making it a transition fitting commonly used when routing copper, aluminum, or thermoplastic tubing into a threaded port. The fitting is rated to 200 psi and handles temperatures from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F. Thread dimensions are 9/16-24 on the compression side and 1/4-18 NPT on the male thread side. The hex wrench flat measures 0.56 inches across. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and refrigeration mechanics install this fitting when bridging a compression tubing run to a threaded equipment port or valve body.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration applications where a compression tubing line must terminate at a 1/4-inch male pipe thread connection. Typical install locations include instrument lines, control tubing runs, refrigerant access ports, and gas appliance supply connections that use small-diameter soft tubing. The light pattern body keeps bulk and weight low in tight cabinet and panel spaces. Compatible tubing types include copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing as stated by the manufacturer.
Designed for use with copper, aluminum, and thermoplastic tubing in compression fitting applications requiring a 3/8-inch compression by 1/4-inch male pipe thread transition.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or refrigeration mechanic. Shut off system pressure and bleed the line before removing or installing compression fittings. Hand-tighten the compression nut first, then advance with a wrench - do not overtighten, as brass compression fittings can deform the ferrule. Apply thread sealant tape or paste to the male NPT threads per applicable plumbing or mechanical code requirements.
