The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 65516DT is a double tapped bushing designed to reduce a larger female pipe thread opening to a smaller male pipe thread outlet within a piping system. It features a 1-1/4 inch male pipe thread (MPT) on the outer connection and a 1/2 inch female pipe thread (FPT) on the inner connection. Constructed from malleable iron with a black finish, this bushing is rated for 150 psi service and handles temperatures from -20 degrees F to 350 degrees F. It meets ANSI B 16.3 dimensional standards and is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in gas, water, and general industrial piping assemblies.
This double tapped bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial pipe systems where a threaded size reduction is required at a fitting or valve connection. Its malleable iron construction provides durability in applications where some vibration or mechanical stress is present. The black finish indicates non-galvanized iron, appropriate for gas and oil service lines where that designation is required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150-pound malleable iron threaded piping systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch MPT to 1/2 inch FPT size reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line before disassembling any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
