The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 65134 is a 90-degree reducing elbow fitting designed for black malleable iron pipe systems. It connects a 1-1/4 inch female pipe thread (FPT) inlet to a 1 inch FPT outlet, allowing directional changes while stepping down pipe size in a single fitting. Rated at 150 lb pressure class and conforming to ANSI B 16.3 dimensional standards, this elbow handles service temperatures from -20 degrees F to 350 degrees F. It weighs approximately 0.82 pounds and has a center-to-end dimension of 1.58 x 1.67 inches. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in gas distribution, steam, and low-pressure fluid piping systems.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and gas piping applications where a direction change and pipe size reduction are needed at the same connection point. The black iron finish and malleable iron construction make it a standard choice for natural gas and propane distribution lines, as well as steam and compressed air systems where black iron fittings are specified. It is typically installed in concealed or exposed piping runs within mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and along structural framing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for black malleable iron pipe systems conforming to 150 lb pressure class ratings per ANSI B 16.3.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply a code-approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
