The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 65127 is a 90-degree reducing elbow designed for threaded pipe assemblies in gas, water, and general-purpose piping systems. It transitions from a 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) inlet to a 1/2-inch FPT outlet while changing flow direction at a right angle. Constructed from malleable iron with a black finish, it carries a 150 lb pressure class rating and meets ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards. The operating temperature range runs from -20 degrees F to 350 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of residential and light commercial service conditions. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting on low-pressure gas lines, steam systems, and water distribution piping.
This elbow fits standard threaded pipe installations where a direction change and size reduction are needed in a single fitting. Typical applications include natural gas distribution piping, steam and condensate lines, compressed air systems, and general industrial fluid handling. The 3/4-14 to 1/2-14 NPT thread pattern conforms to standard pipe thread specifications, allowing straightforward integration into existing black iron piping systems commonly found in residential and light commercial mechanical rooms and utility runs.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for standard 150 lb malleable iron black pipe systems using NPT connections conforming to ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable code requirements, including IFGC provisions for gas piping or IPC for water and steam systems. Shut off and depressurize the line fully before removing any existing fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up threads. Do not over-torque threaded connections; hand-tighten and then wrench-tighten to the fitting manufacturer's standard practice for malleable iron NPT fittings.
