The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 64545 is a reducer hex bushing designed to connect a 6-inch male pipe thread (MPT) outlet to a 4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) inlet in galvanized malleable iron piping systems. Built to 150 psi working pressure and rated for temperatures from -20 to 350 degrees F, this bushing handles the thermal and pressure demands common in commercial and industrial piping installations. The hex body profile allows wrench engagement for proper torque during installation. Manufactured from galvanized malleable iron, the 64545 resists corrosion in wet or humid service environments and meets ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards.
This reducer bushing is suited for galvanized 150-pound malleable iron fitting systems used in water, air, and other compatible fluid piping applications across commercial, industrial, and heavy mechanical installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when reducing pipe size between a 6-inch and 4-inch run. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for exposed or semi-exposed installations where corrosion resistance is a priority. The 6 to 8 thread pitch and 5.79-inch hex dimension are consistent with standard 6-inch NPT fittings found in large-bore system work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for galvanized 150-pound malleable iron piping systems requiring a 6-inch MPT to 4-inch FPT reducer connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium to all NPT threads before makeup. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive force.
