The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 64525 is a reducer hex bushing designed to step down a 2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection to a 3/8-inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection. Constructed from malleable iron with a galvanized finish, this fitting is rated for 150 psi and handles temperatures from -20 degrees F to 350 degrees F. The hex body measures 1.12 inches across flats, allowing a standard pipe wrench or adjustable wrench to seat it securely. It conforms to ANSI B 16.3 dimension standards. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors use this fitting in gas, water, and general piping systems where a pipe size reduction is needed at a threaded connection point.
This reducer hex bushing is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications including gas distribution lines, water supply systems, and compressed air piping. The 2-11-1/2 thread profile on the male end is the standard taper thread used across galvanized malleable iron 150-pound fittings. The galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance in exposed or moderately humid environments. Its compact hex profile makes it practical in tight spaces where a full coupling or union would not fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for galvanized 150-pound malleable iron piping systems using standard NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC depending on the fluid or gas being conveyed. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing any existing fittings. Apply a code-approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with a properly sized pipe wrench to achieve a leak-free connection without over-stressing the fitting. Pressure-test the system after installation before returning it to service.
