The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 64344 is a galvanized malleable iron reducing tee designed for use in threaded pipe systems operating under 150 lb pressure class service. It features three female pipe thread (FPT) connections: two run ports at 2-1/2 inches and one branch port at 2 inches, allowing a controlled reduction in branch line diameter without additional fittings. Conforming to ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards, this fitting is rated for service between -20 degrees F and 350 degrees F. Weighing 1.77 pounds, it is built for durable, long-term use in industrial and commercial piping installations handled by licensed plumbers and pipefitters.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial fluid-handling systems where galvanized malleable iron fittings are specified. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in exposed or mildly corrosive environments. The 150 lb pressure class rating makes it appropriate for moderate-pressure water, air, and approved gas piping applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors regularly use this style of fitting when stepping down branch line size within a threaded iron pipe system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 150 lb class threaded malleable iron pipe systems using standard NPT connections per ANSI B16.3.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing and mechanical codes, including IPC and IFGC where gas service applies. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly, and tighten to secure engagement without over-torquing the malleable iron body. Inspect all joints for leaks before returning the system to service.
