The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 64341 is a malleable iron reducing tee rated at 150 lb pressure class and finished with a galvanized coating for corrosion resistance. It connects two 2-1/2 inch female pipe thread (FPT) ports on the run with a 3/4 inch FPT branch outlet, making it a practical fitting for systems where a smaller branch line tees off a larger main. The galvanized malleable iron construction conforms to ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards and handles temperatures from -20 to 350 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in water, gas, and light industrial piping assemblies where a durable, code-compliant tee connection is required.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems operating within the 150 lb pressure class rating. Typical applications include galvanized water distribution mains, fire suppression branch lines, and general industrial pipe assemblies where reducing a branch connection from a 2-1/2 inch main to a 3/4 inch branch is required. The FPT connections on all three ports accept standard tapered male pipe threads. The galvanized finish makes it appropriate for exposed or damp environments where bare iron would be subject to surface corrosion.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for galvanized 150 lb malleable iron threaded piping systems. Compatible with standard tapered pipe threads per ANSI B16.3 on 2-1/2 inch and 3/4 inch pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten FPT connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
