The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 64314 is a malleable iron galvanized bulkhead reducing tee rated at 150 lb pressure class. It features three female pipe thread (FPT) connections: two at 1-1/4 inches and one reduced center port at 1/2 inch, threaded to ANSI B16.3 dimensional standards. The 1-1/4 inch ports use an 11-1/2 thread pitch and the 1/2 inch port uses a 14 thread pitch. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance for use in wet or exposed environments. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on gas, water, and general piping systems in both residential and light commercial applications.
This bulkhead reducing tee is suited for installations where a branch takeoff at a reduced diameter is required from a main run. It is commonly used in galvanized pipe assemblies for gas distribution, water supply, and mechanical systems. The reducing center port allows a 1/2 inch branch line to be tapped off a 1-1/4 inch main line without additional bushings. It is appropriate for service within a temperature range of -20 to 350 degrees F, making it compatible with a wide range of fluid and gas piping conditions in both indoor and outdoor mechanical rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for galvanized 150 lb malleable iron pipe systems using 1-1/4 inch FPT and 1/2 inch FPT threaded connections conforming to ANSI B16.3.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing and mechanical codes. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns per trade practice for the pipe size. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as this can crack the casting.
