The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 640144 is a straight hydraulic adapter that converts a 1/4-inch Male O-Ring Boss (ORB) port to a 1/4-inch Male NPTF fitting. Constructed from steel, it is rated for up to 4500 psi working pressure and an operating temperature of 375 degrees F. The thread configuration is 7/16-20 on the ORB end and 1/4-18 on the NPTF end. This adapter is installed by hydraulic technicians, plumbers, and fluid-systems mechanics working on high-pressure steel-line assemblies where a sealed, leak-free transition between port types is required.
The 640144 fits into hydraulic systems, fluid power circuits, and industrial piping assemblies where an O-Ring Boss port must be transitioned to a standard NPTF threaded connection. The ORB end provides a positive face-seal through the O-ring, while the NPTF thread on the opposing end creates a pressure-tight mechanical seal without sealant tape in many applications. This adapter is commonly used in mobile hydraulic equipment, manifold porting, and steel plumbing circuits across both light industrial and heavy-duty service environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for hydraulic and fluid power systems utilizing 1/4-inch Male O-Ring Boss ports and 1/4-inch Male NPTF connections, part of the Midland 6401 Series Male O-Ring to MNPT adapter line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified hydraulic or fluid systems technician. Depressurize and isolate the hydraulic circuit completely before removing or installing any fittings. The NPTF thread end may not require thread sealant tape due to its dry-seal design, but always follow the equipment manufacturer and applicable industrial piping standards for your application. Do not overtighten - use a calibrated torque wrench and refer to the system manufacturer's torque specifications for the port size.
