The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63764 is a barstock hex socket countersunk plug designed for closing off threaded pipe ends in fluid and gas distribution systems. Machined from 316 stainless steel, this plug offers strong corrosion resistance in demanding service environments. It features a 3/4-14 male pipe thread (MPT) connection sized at 3/4 inch and carries a 150 lb pressure class rating. The countersunk hex socket drive allows installation with a hex key in tight spaces where a wrench cannot reach. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on industrial and commercial piping systems are the primary installers of this fitting.
This plug is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam media, making it suitable across a wide range of mechanical, process, and utility piping applications. Its 316 stainless steel construction is well suited for corrosive or high-moisture environments, including marine, chemical, and food-service adjacent installations. At 0.9 inches in length and 0.95 inches in width, it fits into compact manifold and header configurations. It conforms to ASME B1.20.1 thread dimensional standards, ensuring reliable thread engagement with standard NPT fittings and pipe assemblies.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam media in 150 lb class 316 stainless steel piping systems. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/4 inch NPT threaded pipe assemblies conforming to ASME B1.20.1.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation, following the sealant manufacturer and applicable code requirements. Use a properly sized hex key to drive the plug; do not overtighten, as barstock stainless fittings can gall if excessive force is applied.
