The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63762B1 is a barstock hex socket countersunk plug designed to seal off pipe ends and unused ports in pressurized fluid and gas systems. Machined from 316 stainless steel, this plug offers strong corrosion resistance in harsh and chemically aggressive environments. The 3/8-inch male NPT thread provides a standard tapered connection, and the countersunk hex socket drive allows installation in recessed or space-restricted locations using a hex key rather than a wrench on external flats. Rated to 1000 psi, it is suited for higher-pressure applications where a standard pipe plug would not meet system requirements. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance techs are the primary installers.
This plug is used in residential and commercial plumbing, industrial piping, hydraulic systems, and fluid handling assemblies where a low-profile, flush-style closure is needed. The countersunk design makes it a practical choice when a protruding plug head would interfere with adjacent components or mounting surfaces. It installs into any 3/8-inch female NPT port on valves, manifolds, pumps, or pipe fittings. The 316 SS construction makes it compatible with water, steam, mild chemicals, and salt-spray environments where carbon steel or brass fittings would corrode prematurely.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation plug for any 3/8-inch female NPT port in plumbing, industrial piping, or fluid handling systems rated within the 1000 psi working pressure range.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines. Always depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any pipe plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before installation to ensure a leak-free seal. Do not overtighten; use a calibrated torque tool and follow the fitting manufacturer's guidelines for NPT thread engagement.
