The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63637MS is a hex head pipe plug designed to seal open female NPT ports in piping systems. Machined from 316 stainless steel, it delivers strong corrosion resistance in wet, chemical, and marine environments. The 1-1/2 in male NPT thread mates to standard female NPT fittings and conforms to a 1-1/2-11-1/2 thread specification. Rated at 150 lb pressure class, this plug is suited for moderate-pressure service in fluid handling, process, and utility piping. The hex head allows for reliable wrench engagement during installation and removal. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This plug is used to cap unused branch outlets, test ports, and open pipe ends in residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, and light industrial process lines. It is appropriate for applications where a permanent or semi-permanent seal is needed on a female NPT port. The 316 stainless steel construction makes it a practical choice in environments exposed to moisture, mild chemicals, or salt air where carbon steel or brass fittings would degrade prematurely.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard service fitting for any female 1-1/2 in NPT port rated to 150 lb pressure class in plumbing, HVAC, or light industrial piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any pipe plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before installation. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for fitting material selection and pressure ratings.
