The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63464 is a 150 lb rated reducing coupling designed to connect piping of two different diameters using female pipe thread (FPT) connections on both ends. The larger port accepts a 4 in FPT connection and the smaller port accepts a 2 in FPT connection. Constructed from 316 stainless steel, this fitting delivers strong corrosion resistance in demanding service conditions. It is suited for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting when a pipe run requires a transition between nominal pipe sizes within a threaded piping system.
This reducing coupling is rated for 150 lb pressure class service and is appropriate for both residential and commercial piping installations. The 316 stainless steel construction makes it a reliable choice in environments where moisture, chemicals, or corrosive media are present. Thread standards follow standard tapered pipe thread sizing: 4 in uses 8 threads per inch and 2 in uses 11-1/2 threads per inch. Typical applications include process piping, mechanical rooms, HVAC hydronic systems, and industrial fluid distribution where a concentric pipe size reduction is needed without changing to a different fitting type.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam. Designed as a standard 150 lb class threaded reducing coupling for use in systems requiring an FPT-to-FPT pipe size transition from 4 in to 2 in nominal diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes such as the IPC or IFGC. Shut down system pressure and isolate the section of pipe before beginning work. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads of the mating pipe before engagement. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as stainless steel fittings are susceptible to galling if threads are forced under excessive torque without proper lubrication.
