The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63459 is a 316 stainless steel reducing coupling designed to connect two female pipe thread (FPT) ports of different sizes in a single inline fitting. It transitions from a 1-inch FPT connection to a 1/4-inch FPT connection and carries a 150 lb pressure class rating. The 316 stainless steel construction provides strong resistance to corrosion and oxidation, making it a reliable choice in demanding fluid and gas service environments. Thread specifications are 1-11-1/2 NPT on the larger end and 1/4-18 NPT on the smaller end. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting in systems requiring a direct female-to-female reducer without additional adapters.
This reducing coupling is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam, covering a broad range of residential, commercial, and light industrial piping applications. Its stainless steel body makes it well suited for installations where corrosion resistance is a priority, such as chemical-adjacent environments, outdoor plumbing runs, marine-adjacent facilities, or food-service mechanical rooms. The compact profile, measuring approximately 1.55 inches in length and 1.6 inches in both height and width, fits easily into tight valve or manifold assemblies where space is limited.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service lines. Designed as a 150 lb class inline reducer for standard NPT female-threaded pipe systems where a 1-inch to 1/4-inch reduction is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements for the intended media. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the specific media being conveyed. Do not overtighten; use a pipe wrench on the fitting flats and check for leaks before returning the system to service.
