The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 63438MS is a reducing coupling designed to connect a 3/4-inch female NPT port to a 1/2-inch female NPT port in threaded piping systems. Constructed from 316 stainless steel, this fitting offers strong resistance to corrosion and is well suited for use in demanding fluid and gas distribution applications. It carries a 150 lb pressure class rating and uses 3/4-14 x 1/2-14 thread specifications. The compact form factor measures 1.5 inches in height, 1.35 inches in length, and 1.4 inches in width, making it a practical choice for tight installations. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This reducing coupling is appropriate for residential and commercial plumbing, process piping, and industrial fluid handling systems where a transition between 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch threaded pipe is required. The SP-114 series from MIDLAND INDUSTRIES covers 316 stainless steel fittings built for environments where standard carbon steel or brass fittings may be inadequate due to moisture, chemicals, or temperature cycling. Typical applications include water distribution, compressed air lines, and chemical process lines where corrosion resistance is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting replacement for standard 150 lb class NPT reducing coupling applications in 316 stainless steel piping systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines depending on the media being conveyed. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service conditions before threading the fitting into place. Do not over-torque stainless steel threads, as galling can occur; hand-tighten first, then use a wrench for final seating.
