The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 62454B1 is a barstock reducing coupling designed to connect two female pipe thread (FPT) ports of different sizes within a pressurized piping system. Machined from 304 stainless steel barstock, this fitting transitions from a 2-inch FPT inlet to a 1-1/2-inch FPT outlet and is rated to a pressure class of 1000 lb. The threaded engagement follows a 2-11-1/2 x 1-1/2-11-1/2 thread specification. Weighing 1.96 pounds, it is suited for commercial and industrial piping applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This reducing coupling is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam, making it applicable across a broad range of mechanical, plumbing, and process piping installations. It fits into the 1000 lb and above fitting category, which is common in industrial plant piping, commercial HVAC hydronic systems, and high-pressure service lines where standard 150 lb fittings are not rated for the service conditions. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in wet and chemically active environments.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam piping systems. Designed as an OEM-style barstock reducing coupling for 1000 lb and above stainless steel fitting applications requiring a 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch FPT-to-FPT reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipe fitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable mechanical codes for the service type. Isolate and depressurize the line fully before removing any existing fitting or threading in this coupling. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up the joint. Do not overtighten; hand-tighten first, then wrench-tighten to avoid thread damage on the stainless steel fitting.
