The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 62447 is a reducing coupling designed to connect two female pipe thread (FPT) fittings of different sizes in a single inline transition. It steps down from a 1-1/2-inch FPT inlet to a 1/2-inch FPT outlet and is rated at 150 lb pressure class. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, this fitting delivers corrosion resistance suited for demanding service environments. Thread specifications are 1-1/2-11-1/2 NPT on the large end and 1/2-14 NPT on the small end. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting during pipe assembly or repair work where a size reduction in the line is required.
This reducing coupling is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam, making it applicable across plumbing, HVAC, industrial piping, and light process systems. Its 304 stainless steel construction suits installations where carbon steel fittings would be vulnerable to corrosion, including wet or chemically active environments. It fits within the 150 lb pressure class fitting category, commonly specified in both residential and light commercial mechanical systems. The compact profile keeps transitions tight in confined pipe runs.
Rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam lines. Designed as a standard 150 lb class threaded reducing coupling for use in residential and commercial piping systems where a female-to-female size reduction is required.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or IFGC requirements depending on the service fluid. Shut off and depressurize the line before disassembling any existing fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all NPT threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded connections in stainless steel fittings, as galling can occur without proper lubrication.
