The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 62429 is a 150 lb rated reducing coupling designed to connect piping of two different diameters using female pipe thread (FPT) connections on both ends. The larger end accepts a 3-inch FPT connection with a 3-8 thread specification, while the smaller end accepts a 1-1/4-inch FPT connection with an 11-1/2 thread specification. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, this fitting resists corrosion in demanding service environments. It is suited for plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping systems where a threaded reduction between two pipe sizes is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This reducing coupling is rated for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam service at a 150 lb pressure class. It fits within standard 150-pound stainless steel fitting systems and is appropriate for both residential and commercial mechanical piping applications. The 304 stainless steel construction makes it a common choice in environments where carbon steel fittings would be prone to corrosion, such as food service, chemical handling, or coastal installations. It is catalogued within the 150-pound 304 stainless steel nipples and fittings category.
Designed as a standard 150 lb threaded reducing coupling for use with air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam piping systems. Fits within 150-pound 304 stainless steel fitting assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including the IPC and IFGC where natural gas service is involved. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all male threads before making up the joint. Do not overtighten, as stainless steel threads are susceptible to galling.
