The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 601-68 is a brass flare adapter designed to connect dissimilar flare sizes in hydraulic and fluid-transfer tubing systems. It transitions from a 3/8 inch female flared connection to a 1/2 inch male flare connection, using 5/8-18 and 3/4-16 thread specifications respectively. Constructed from solid brass, this fitting is rated to 1,000 psi working pressure and handles temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees F. The compact body measures approximately 1.35 inches in length and weighs 0.11 pounds. It is typically installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic system specialists working with metal tubing lines.
This adapter is suited for use in hydraulic tubing systems across residential, commercial, and light industrial applications. It is compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing with a minimum wall thickness of 0.032 inches. Common install scenarios include equipment lines, fluid-transfer manifolds, and service connections where a size transition between 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch flare fittings is required. Its brass construction resists corrosion in both wet and dry service environments.
Compatible with copper, brass, aluminum, and steel hydraulic tubing with a 0.032 inch minimum wall thickness. Designed as a standard FFL x MFL brass flare adapter for hydraulic and fluid-transfer tubing systems requiring a 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch flare size transition.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified hydraulic system technicians. Depressurize and isolate the tubing system fully before disconnecting any fittings. Use appropriate flare nut wrenches to avoid deforming the fitting hex; do not use pipe wrenches on flare fittings. Verify tubing flare angles and wall thickness meet the fitting specifications before assembly to ensure a leak-free seal.
