The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 59212SMLS is a seamless Schedule 80 black steel pipe nipple designed for high-pressure piping systems in commercial and industrial applications. Sized at 3 inches in diameter with an 11-inch body length, it features male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, providing consistent wall thickness of 0.3 inches throughout for superior pressure integrity. Rated to 2,500 psi at a 300-pound pressure class, this nipple handles demanding fluid and gas conveyance tasks where standard Schedule 40 fittings fall short. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors specify this part for systems requiring extra-heavy-duty fittings.
This nipple is suited for black iron piping systems in commercial gas distribution, steam, hydraulic, and compressed air lines. Its SCH 80 rating and seamless steel body make it appropriate for high-pressure industrial environments where wall integrity is critical. The 11-inch length and 3-inch MPT-by-MPT configuration fit standard close-coupled installations between valves, flanges, and fittings in above-grade mechanical rooms and industrial piping runs. The temperature range of -200 to 150 degrees F covers most standard service conditions for steam and compressed gas lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3-inch Schedule 80 black steel piping systems using standard ANSI B1.20.1 male pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including IFGC and IPC requirements for gas and fluid piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any pipe nipple. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not over-torque threaded connections on steel fittings, as this can damage threads or adjacent valves and fittings.
