The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 59148SMLS is a seamless black steel pipe nipple rated for high-pressure and close-coupled piping applications. It features 1-1/2-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends and measures 5.5 inches in overall length. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness at 0.2 inches, it carries a 300 lb pressure class and a working pressure of 1,900 psi. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, making it suitable for demanding gas, steam, and liquid service installations. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting in commercial and industrial systems where schedule and pressure ratings must meet project specifications.
This pipe nipple is designed for use in black iron piping systems commonly found in natural gas distribution, compressed air, steam lines, and industrial fluid conveyance. The 1-1/2-inch diameter and 5.5-inch close nipple length make it a practical choice for tight-clearance connections in mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and utility spaces. Its black finish is standard for gas and steam applications where galvanized fittings are not specified. The temperature range of -200 to 150 degrees F supports a broad range of service conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 black iron piping systems using 1-1/2-inch NPT threaded connections conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including IFGC and IPC requirements for threaded pipe joints. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use an appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as seamless steel fittings can crack if excessive force is applied.
