The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 58105 is a Schedule 80 galvanized steel pipe nipple rated for demanding industrial and commercial plumbing applications. It features 1-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends and measures 4 inches in length with a 1-inch diameter. The galvanized zinc coating provides corrosion resistance for use in wet or exposed environments. Schedule 80 wall thickness delivers greater pressure tolerance compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings. This nipple is manufactured to ANSI B1.20.1 thread dimensional standards, ensuring reliable engagement with standard NPT fittings. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work on water, gas, and industrial piping systems.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, gas distribution, and industrial fluid transfer systems where a short threaded extension or connection between fittings is required. The 4-inch close-to-standard length makes it a common solution for extending threaded pipe runs or connecting valves, unions, and other fittings with NPT ports. Its galvanized finish makes it appropriate for outdoor, basement, and mechanical room installations where moisture exposure is a factor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1-inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 80 galvanized steel fittings.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC requirements where gas service is involved. Shut off the water or gas supply and depressurize the line before threading the nipple into place. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads prior to assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections; use a pipe wrench with a backup wrench on adjacent fittings to avoid stress on the piping system.
