The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 58025 is a Schedule 80 galvanized steel pipe nipple with 1/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connections on both ends. Built to SCH 80 wall thickness, it delivers greater pressure resistance than standard Schedule 40 fittings, making it well suited for demanding service lines. The nipple measures 3-1/2 inches in length and 1/4 inch in diameter, with 1/4-18 NPT threads conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in wet or outdoor environments. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of nipple in gas, water, and compressed-air distribution systems where a short, rigid male-to-male connection is required.
This nipple is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems. Typical applications include connecting valves, unions, couplings, and fittings in low-diameter branch lines. The 3-1/2-inch length fills gaps between fittings where close or short nipples would be too brief. The galvanized coating makes it appropriate for outdoor installations, wet utility spaces, and applications where bare steel would be subject to surface corrosion over time.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 1/4-inch NPT threaded plumbing and mechanical piping systems using Schedule 80 galvanized steel components.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and IFGC code requirements for the intended service fluid. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with a pipe wrench to achieve a leak-free joint without over-stressing the fitting. Do not use galvanized fittings in systems where dezincification or galvanic incompatibility with downstream components is a concern.
